Amersham Museum Re opens July 12

Fri, 07/07/2017 - 09:31

Date:  Wednesday 12 July

Time:  12noon

Venue:  Amersham Museum, HP7 ODP

After four years of planning and fundraising and a 10-month closure, Amersham Museum will re-open to visitors at noon on Wednesday 12th July.  The museum has undergone a substantial expansion into the neighbouring Victorian building.  A new, stunning glass reception space, has enabled the museum to reveal the medieval building, previously hidden to the High Street.  The museum’s wonderful garden has also been re-landscaped to enable wheelchair access and features new planting.

The extension has created new exhibition space, activity space and dedicated stores for the museum’s collection.

The collection has been completely redisplayed with more emphasis on the 20th century and much greater access to parts of it, including maps and oral histories. There are also more activities for children and discovery boxes full of objects, photos and documents.

New Activities:  A wonderful activity programme has been developed for the reimagined museum, with activities for people of all ages, including a new schools programme from September. The activities kick off with a series of family activities on Saturday 15th July (free after admission).

The museum will be open from 12 – 4.30pm Wednesday – Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.   Admission is £3 adults, children free. Many of the activities for families are free after admission.

Chesham Theatre Company is presenting “Jumpers for Goalposts” -June 29th to 1st July

Sat, 05/20/2017 - 15:42

‘Barely Athletic’ is not exactly the greatest team ever; in fact it is pretty rubbish.  But bossy head coach and pub landlady, Viv does her best to motivate four uninspired individuals to do their best.

The play focuses on the relationships between the members of a five-a-side Sunday football team in Hull, with a twist: it is set in the gay and lesbian league.  There are some real laugh-out-loud moments.

Chesham Theatre Company is presenting “Jumpers for Goalposts” in association with Nick Hern Books.

The show runs nightly at 8pm from Thursday June 29th to Saturday 1st July at the Little Theatre in the Park, Chesham.

We are presenting this as a ‘Supper Theatre’ so drinks and picnics welcome but food and drink will be on sale.

Tickets priced at £12.50 each (tables of eight) available from www.trybooking.co.uk/1175
